Some years ago I got introduced to this amazing art of the traditional headwear called Tembleque Panamenà. This technique is used to make the headwear which makes part of the folk dress called Pollera and is worn by the Panamanian women. The traditional headwear, already known since the time of the colonazation of America by the conquistadors can reach till over a thousand dollar when combined with precious stones such as crystals and pearl beads.
I have studied some techniques to make already existing pieces according to serveral premade patterns and finally I also managed to make a complete self designed piece with an own designed pattern. As this was my very first design I have experimented with different materials and combined it with feathers and fabric leafs.
